Dryer fire draws responders to Muncy business

MUNCY – Volunteer firefighters from four communities responded to Keystone Filler and Manufacturing Co. at 214 Railroad St. about 5 p.m. Thursday when a large industrial dryer reportedly caught fire.

Firefighters from Muncy Area, Hughesville, Picture Rocks and Montoursville worked together to extinguish the fire, which was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

Firefighters from Warrior Run Area moved one of their trucks to the Hughesville’s firehouse and Pennsdale did the same, standing by at the Muncy Area station on Main Street to handle any other emergency calls that might have occurred during the fire.

The cause of the fire was unknown and details concerning its impact to the plant’s operation as well as information about the damage to the dryer were not available Thursday night. There were no reports of injuries.
