MANSFIELD — A man involved in a fatal crash on Route 15 last fall will face charges in District Judge James Carlson’s courtroom in December.
According to court documents, Cody Alan-Mikel Gross, 26, of 196 St. James St., Mansfield, was charged by Blossburg police with homicide by vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault by vehicle while under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of children, driving under the influence of intoxicants and possession of a controlled substance, including alprazolam, delta carboxy THC, and methadone and drug paraphernalia.
Police said Gross crashed his 2002 Subaru Forester SUV into another vehicle on Oct. 9, 2015, on Route 15 in Blossburg, killing the driver of the other car, 66-year-old Anthony King, after Gross lost control of his vehicle while traveling northbound and crossed over the median..
Gross was ejected from the vehicle, along with two children, ages 3 and 4, and all were injured. An 8-month-old was in a car seat in the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.
King was the only occupant of the second vehicle.
After the crash, police said they found an electronic scale for weighing drugs, a bottle containing urine with a hand warmer taped to the bottle, a container of 16 blue pills identified as Alprazolam, generic for Xanax, and a back pack containing the scales.
A nurse at Geisinger Medical Center found a tube with a white powdery substance on one end in Gross’ pants pocket, police said.
Gross was issued a summons to appear at 9 a.m. Dec. 14 for a preliminary hearing.
