School bus accident injures 1

TOWANDA — A Columbia Cross Roads man was injured when he rear-ended a stopped school bus Tuesday morning.

According to state police, William A. Jenkins, 48, was driving his 2007 Ford Explorer on the Leona Road at about 7:15 a.m., when he came upon a stopped school bus picking up students.

Police said Jenkins was unable to stop his vehicle before hitting the rear of the stopped bus.

Neither the driver of the bus, Thomas E. Pine, 58, of Columbia Cross Roads, nor any of the 31 students on board the bus were injured.

Jenkins, who was cited with careless driving, was transported to the Troy Community Hospital, where he was treated and released, state police said.
