Alleged sex assault fugitive captured
A man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in March 2014 in Union County and who lived in Lycoming County recently was arrested in Vista, California, by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Peter Psarakis, 27, was arrested without incident by the service’s fugitive task force. He is waiting extradition to Pennsylvania, according to U.S. Marshal Martin Pane.
Psarakis faces charges of aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and related offenses.
State police obtained an arrested warrant for Psarakis May 18 and searched for him in Union and Lycoming counties before they asked U.S. Marshals for assistance, Pane said.
Police initially learned of the allegations following a ChildLine referral from the Union County District Attorney’s office in February. ChildLine is part of Pennsylvania’s mandated child protective services program.
The girl reportedly didn’t immediately share details of the alleged assault, police were told.
