Woman taken into custody while paying fine at judge’s office in separate case

A 54-year-old homeless woman who showed up at a district judge’s office Thursday to pay a fine for a minor offense ended up being taken into custody on theft-related charges that were filed just hours earlier at the same office.

Sherry Minner, whose last known address was of the 12000 block of Route 287, Trout Run, has been charged by Old Lycoming Township police with theft, receiving stolen property, forgery and obtaining a controlled substance through illegal means as a result of an incident the Weis Market pharmacy, 1916 Lycoming Creek Road, on Dec. 15.

Police allege Minner illegally obtained a prescription that was in the name of her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Miller, at the pharmacy. Following her arraignment before District Judge William Solomon, Minner was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
