Man waives hearing on harassment charge

During proceedings last week before District Judge Gary Whiteman, South Williamsport police withdrew six of eight charges filed against Keith Eck, 34, of 2002 Glynn Ave.

Eck was charged with stalking, intimidation of a witness and related offenses for repeatedly calling and texting his estranged wife, Courtney, during the early morning hours of May 18 even though police had ordered him to stop doing it, according to court records.

Many of Eck’s text messages were filled with obscenities, police said. The alleged stalking occurred in the borough, police said.

Initially charged with two counts of stalking, three counts of harassment, and one count each of intimidation of a witness, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, police dropped the charges of stalking, intimidation of a witness and disorderly conduct as well as two of the harassment counts.

Eck, free on $50,000 bail, waived his preliminary hearing on the remaining one count of harassment and public drunkenness.
