Montoursville OIP still closed after lightning strike

PHILIP A HOLMES/Sun-Gazette

Nearly three weeks after a lightning strike sparked a fire in the building that houses the Original Italian Pizza on Broad Street in Montoursville, the eatery remains closed and three tenants who live in two apartments above the business are still displaced. Christopher Janusis, the manager at OIP, said he has no idea when the place will reopen. The lightning strike caused an electrical surge that damaged the circuits that served the cash registers, the wired smoke alarms and other things, he said. An estimated $7,000 worth of product had to be thrown out because the freezers no longer worked, Janusis said. A sign on the door reads “Closed until further notice due to fire damage. Check our Facebook page for updates. Thank you for your patience.”
