2 motorists charged with DUI
Not one, but two drivers ended up charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a one-vehicle crash on Route 864 in Fairfield Township on Nov. 6, according to state police.
Melinda Confair, 44, of 6910 Pine Run Road, Jersey Shore, had “an odor of alcohol emanating from her, and her eyes were bloody and glassy” after she had a crash with her 2017 Ford Explorer in the 1100 block of Route 864 about 11:40 p.m.
She admitted to a trooper that she had been drinking (alcoholic beverages) before she drove.
While troopers were investigating the crash, another motorist, Scott Wade, 54, of 12 Genesse Camp Road, Hughesville, stopped at the scene. Court records did not say why he stopped.
As troopers began to question him, they detected an odor of alcohol coming from his 1998 Ford van, police said, adding that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. His speech also was slurred, police said, adding that Wade admitted to having a few alcoholic drinks earlier in the evening.
Confair’s blood-alcohol content level was .18 while Wade’s was .14, according to court records filed at the office of District Judge Gary Whiteman. Both have been charged with DUI. The two each waived their preliminary hearings on Monday and are free on $5,000 bail each.
