Cyclist remains in critical condition week after wreck
One week after a crash in the city’s Newberry neighborhood, a 19-year-old motorcyclist remains hospitalized in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, a nursing supervisor confirmed Wednesday night.
City police said Edward Schell, of 165 Woodward St., Linden, was traveling east on West Fourth Street when his cycle and a westbound pickup truck driven by Gary Yocum Jr., of Montgomery, collided as Yocum was turning south into the parking lot of Billtown Cab in the 3500 block of West Fourth Street about 9:40 p.m. on Jan. 29.
Schell, who was wearing a helmet, went airborne and landed in the bed of Yocum’s truck, police said.
Schell was initially taken to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Geisinger.
Regarding another crash, Carmela Aloisio, 79, of Williamsport, was treated at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center for injuries she suffered when her car struck a parked pickup truck on Westminster Drive, just south of Reed Street, in Loyalsock Township on Jan. 25, state police said.
