Infant abuse, DUI and drug possession charges brought in separate incidents

Christopher James Warns, 22, of 19 N. Washington St., was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person after allegedly fracturing his two-month old son’s left leg and breaking the infant’s left clavicle Wednesday at his residence.

Muncy police received the call reporting an injured child after the child had been stuck in an infant crib railing, though later was notified that Warns allegedly slammed the baby’s leg toward its head in a “fit of anger while changing the baby’s diaper,” according to court documents.

The baby was treated at the Muncy Valley Emergency Room then transferred to Geisinger Medical Center for surgery and other treatments.

There was no information regarding incarceration or when Warns will appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp for his preliminary hearing available in the court documents received.

In another incident, motorist Adam Edwards, 33, of 5801 Pine Run Road, Mifflin Township, waived his preliminary on charges of DUI and related offenses related to when his pickup truck was stopped for speeding in the 11000 block of Route 220 in Porter Township about 12:10 a.m. on March 8, according to court records filed by the county’s DUI Task Force.

“Edwards was slouched down in the driver’s seat and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage,” an officer wrote in an affidavit.

“He had glassy, bloodshot eyes and had slurred speech. At times it was hard to make out what he was saying,” the officer said of Edwards, who already has three DUI convictions, court records state.

The driver admitted to drinking at least eight beers — “his last drink was when he was pulled over,” he told the officer, who saw two empty beer bottles in the vehicle.

Edwards failed a series of field sobriety tests and refused to provided a blood sample when he was taken to the county’s DUI center, court records state. Automatically jailed on a probation violation, he remains behind bars in lieu of $5,000 bail.

In a third incident, Shakya Aiyona El, 18, and Alexis Jalia Vann, 23, of 650 Krouse Ave., and Myhiyah Nyeema Moye, 18, of Philadelphia, are all jailed on $100,000 bail after allegedly selling heroin in the Williamsport area and paying Maureen and Nathaniel Robinson with heroin to stay in the Krouse Avenue residence, according to court records.

The three were found in the residence Wednesday flushing items down the toilet and were immediately taken into custody alongside the Robinsons.

According to court records, the Robinsons were receiving 10 bags of heroin per day. El allegedly traveled to Philadelphia on April 16 and returned with five bricks of heroin, according to court papers.

The Lycoming County Narcotics Enforcement Unit found three bricks of heroin, green and red glassine bags, a glassine bag box with unused bags and a heroin packaging kit in the residence.

El, Vann and Moye are charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and will appear before District Judge Christian D. Frey on Tuesday for their prospective preliminary hearings.
