New charges filed against Lycoming County inmate

Additional drug charges were filed last week against Lycoming County Prison inmate Rashaun Fleming, 31, of 1245 Freed Place.

The new charges were filed by state Trooper Christopher Sulitka and stem from an incident when he caught Fleming traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph speed zone on Route 118 in Moreland Township about 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 20.

“As I approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana emanated” from the SUV, the trooper said, adding that Fleming told him there was marijuana in the console.

Fleming was driving with a suspended driver’s license, Sulitka said.

Arraigned Friday before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and driving without a license, he was recommitted in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Two days after he was caught speeding, Fleming was incarcerated on city police charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and related offenses stemming from alleged drug activity on Nov. 4, according to court records. Bail in that case was $75,000.
