Four injured in serious crash on Route 15

TROUT RUN – Four people, including two children, were injured when a Jeep 4×4 and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck collided in the southbound lanes of Route 15 at the Steam Valley interchange about 8 p.m. Monday, state police confirmed.

Two helicopters, both from Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, landed on the highway and each were used to fly one of the children to the trauma center, Liberty Fire Chief Todd Zimmerman, who was in charge at the scene, said.

The children were riding in the pickup truck that was operated an adult male, Zimmerman said.

The man, along with a woman who was driving the Jeep, were taken by ambulances to UPMC Williamsport, he said.

Due to the location of the collision, southbound traffic could easily detour off the highway and get right back on at the on-ramp.

Volunteer firefighters and/or EMTs from Liberty, Trout Run, Hepburn Township, Blossburg and Old Lycoming Township as well as paramedics from Lycoming and Tioga County rushed to the scene to help the injured.
