Williamsport man charged with allegedly choking wife
Williamsport police arrested a city man they say assaulted and choked his wife in their home last week.
Correy Charlton Branch, 31, of 606 Maple St., faces charges of strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment.
Police stated they went to the address July 30 after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance there.
Upon arrival, they met with Nia Coney-Branch, who said she was assaulted by her husband following an argument over finances and his refusal to find a job.
She said Correy Branch initially pushed her and then followed her to a bedroom where she was slapped and knocked to the floor.
When she attempted to get off the floor, her husband placed his arm around her neck and pulled her back to the bed where he began to choke her, according to police.
While choking her, he would let go before again applying pressure to her neck, at one point telling her he would kill her.
She reportedly managed to claw at her husband’s face to get him off of her and attempted to call 911 before running to her neighbors for help.
When she tried to climb back into the house through a window, her husband grabbed her by the hair and pulled her head through the window before shoving her outside to the ground.
Police reported the victim had been healing from a c-section following the recent birth of twins.
Following his arrest, Branch was arraigned and placed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail.
