Jetski operator charged on river

Jared Kinley, 39, of 1638 Beautys Run Road, has been charged by the state Fish and Boat Commission with operating a watercraft on the Susquehanna River while under the influence of alcohol, according to court records filed at the office of District Judge Gary Whiteman.

The incident occurred while Kinley was operating a Kawasaki jetski near the Susquehanna Park about 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 6, Jacob Angstadt-Bennett, a water conservation officer, said, adding that he stopped the operator because he was not wearing a lifejacket as required.

“There was an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. He stated he had two beers two hours ago,” the officer said.

Kinley, who had a blood-alcohol content level of .12, waived his preliminary hearing Monday and is free on $5,000 bail.
