Williamsport man allegedly stabs victim with machete while on meth

Eddie Johnson, 34, of 1500 High Street, allegedly stabbed a victim several times while high on methamphetamine, according to city police.

The victim’s girlfriend allegedly told police Johnson had become angry with the victim for stealing his methamphetamine while the group were all high at their shared home the evening of Jan. 9, according to Brittany Alexander, a city police agent.

“Eddie then retrieved a machete and began attacking (him) with it,” Alexander wrote in the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the victim’s girlfriend said the alleged assaults took place in the basement, bathroom and other locations within the residence.

Alexander said when the house was searched, it allegedly appeared disheveled and with blood throughout as if a struggle had taken place.

Additionally, Alexander said police allegedly found two firearms laid out in plain view and easily accessible. She noted Johnson had pled guilty to a previous offense that prevented him from legally possessing a firearm.

The victim was transported to UPMC Susquehanna Health to receive treatment for lacerations on his body and head, according to Alexander.

Johnson was arraigned by District Judge Christian Frey on charges of aggravated assault, possessing a firearm as a felon, possessing an instrument of a crime, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Frey set bail to $100,000, and unable to post, Johnson will remain in the Lycoming County Prison until his preliminary hearing Jan. 26.
