Montoursville area home hit by fire

Several volunteer fire companies – along with city firemen – were battling a two-alarm blaze that was ravaging a home on Jerry Lane, off of Heilman Road, north of Route 864, in Upper Fairfield Township on Thursday night.

The fire was reportedly called in by a neighbor about 6 p.m., and when crews began arriving on the scene, close to 50 percent of the home was engulfed in flames.

Besides Montoursville, volunteer firefighters from Hepburn Township, Picture Rocks, Hughesville, Eldred Township, Loyalsock Township, Muncy Township, Jersey Shore and South Williamsport were dispatched. The blaze burned out of controlled for at least an hour. The Sun-Gazette will have more details as they become available. An apparatus from Muncy Area moved th the Montoursville firehouse on Broad Street to handled any other fire emergency that might take place during the blaze.
