Weapons, drug charges brought before Lycoming County district judges

Delaware County motorist faces drug and weapon charges

Driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade, Alyssa Leslie, 30, of Darby, Delaware County, was stopped by state police in the 800 block of Sheridan Street in the city about 12:15 a.m. on Oct. 12 because of illegal window tint.

After spotting a marijuana vape pen inside the vehicle, troopers asked her permission to search the car, to which she consented, according to an affidavit. Police found 21 grams of leaf marijuana and a loaded handgun in the car. She had a permit for the weapon, but it expired in March 2023, police said.

Leslie was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia plus five summary offenses. Initially jailed, she has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $10,000 bail.

Old Lycoming Township man charged with felony drug-related charges

Jacob Thomas Greenly, 36, of 34 Catherine Drive, apartment 34, has been charged by the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit with attempted delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of of a cellphone following an incident in which he admitted that he was en route to sell methamphetamine to another person when he was intercepted by a county detective at High and Rose streets in the city about 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 18, it was alleged in an affidavit. Greenly had with him a container with the controlled substance, the court document stated.

Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, he was released on $50,000 bail.

Three woman charges in two separate incidents

An-Nisa Nichole Jones, 25, of Lewisburg, and Nahjay Jackson, 22, of 815 W. Fourth St., have both been charged with felony trespassing, simple assault and harassment for assaulting a female acquaintance, Iyonna Edkins, after the two forcibly entered Edkins’ home at 617 Third Ave. about 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, city police alleged in an affidavit. Edkins suffered a swollen lip in the attack, police said. Jones and Jackson were arraigned hours later before District Judge Gary Whiteman and initially jailed, but have since been released on $15,000 bail each. The two have waived their preliminary hearings.

In another criminal matter, Edkins, 24, was listed as the defendant in a case in which state police charged her with theft of services and criminal trespassing. The charges stem from her staying at a guest room on Sept. 27 at the Econo Lodge, 2019 E. Third St., after management had banned her from the Loyalsock Township business, police said. The room had not been paid for, it was stated in an affidavit. There was no explanation on how Edkins obtained a room key. She was arraigned earlier this week before Whiteman and released on $10,000 bail.

Domestic disturbance leads to charges against Montoursville man

Alan Stephen Walker, 40, of 1301 Spruce St., Montoursville, faces charges of terroristic threats, false imprisonment and harassment after he “threatened” his girlfriend, telling her he would “knock her the (expletive) out” during a domestic disturbance at the couple’s home about 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 29, it was alleged in a borough police affidavit. He also pushed the woman onto a couch and would not let her get up, the victim told police.

When officers arrived on the scene, it was clear to them that Walker was intoxicated as he swayed while standing, the court document stated. There also was a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, police said. The woman said she suffered bruises on her left thigh and left arm, police added.

Walker waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $15,000 bail.

Impaired motorist faces additional weapons charge

Criminal charges have been lodged against impaired motorist Isak Fowler after a loaded short-barrel rifle with “a sound-suppressor muzzle device” attached to it was discovered inside his pickup truck that state police stopped at Lincoln Drive and Tinsman Avenue about 12:10 a.m. on March 5.

Fowler, 25, of 62 Katzmaier Road, Montoursville, was stopped for failing to use a turn signal, and the center brake light was not working, police said. Minutes after the stop, a fire broke out in the truck’s front wheel well, and both Fowler and a passenger were ordered out of the vehicle for their own safety. One of the troopers quickly put out the fire.

Fowler’s speech was slow and sluggish, and the troopers saw an open beer can in the center console, it was stated in an affidavit. Police believed both Fowler and his passenger “were under the influence of alcohol,” the court document stated.

The troopers took possession of a rifle that was on the center console with the barrel facing the front windshield, police said. Fowler had a BAC of .14, police said. Fowler was charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, DUI and five summary violations. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $10,000 bail.

Cassandra Jene Hughes, 36, of 816 Park Ave., was charged with convicted felon not to possess a firearm, possession of a firearm with altered or obliterated serial number and endangering the welfare of a child after detectives with the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit seized a handgun while executing a search warrant at the home she shares with John Kyle Smith at 816 Park Ave. in the city on Oct. 9, according to an affidavit.

Like Smith, Hughes has multiple felony convictions in Florida, the court document stated. Hughes was arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and is free on $30,000 bail. Smith, 29, was charged earlier with the same offenses and has since been held for court on identical charges. He too is free on $30,000 bail.
