Locals, out-of-stater face various charges in Lycoming County

Montgomery man faces a new set of state police charges

Felony charges have been lodged against David J. Pierce, the 37-year-old Montgomery man who was arrested just last week on state police charges of allegedly pointing what looked very much like a machine gun – but wasn’t – at motorists and buildings in the center of the borough. Pierce, of 34 N. Main St., was taken into custody near the scene immediately following the Jan. 26 incident on charges of terroristic threats and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle placed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, but was released on Jan. 31 on signature bail.

However on Tuesday, Pierce was once again before Biichle to face felony firearm offenses stemming from an incident that occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 when he abandoned his 2025 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with “multiple firearms in plain view” inside the truck at State Home and Brouse roads in Clinton Township, state police said. Because of his history, Pierce is prohibited from possessing or owning any firearms, police said.

Troopers were dispatched to the intersection to check on a motorist who had called his vehicle’s subscription-based communications alert system. When they got there, the troopers found a truck, owned by Pierce, abandoned with the firearms in it, police said, adding that at least one of the guns was loaded. Upon being questioned at his residence, Pierce admitted he left his truck on Brouse Road and walked home, police said. On Jan. 29, two days before he was released from jail, police filed five counts of illegal possession of a firearm and one count of carrying a firearm without a license against Pierce. Following his arraignment on the new sets of charges. Pierce was jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail.
