Homeless man locked up on assault-related charges

When officers arrived at a bus stop in the 1100 block of West Fourth Street to handle a domestic disturbance about 6:40 p.m. on Friday, they came upon a woman who was “hysterically crying,” claiming her husband, Michael J. Tallman, had “slammed her head repeatedly off the glass windows of the bus stop” during an argument, it was alleged in a city police affidavit. The woman also alleged that Tallman, 40, threatened to kill her and began throwing items at her, police said, adding the couple is homeless and was “drinking to the level of intoxication” on Friday. When Tallman was taken into custody a short distance away, Tallman “was drinking from an open container of an alcoholic beverage,” police said. At his arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Tallman refused to answer any questions that judges routinely ask during such proceedings. Charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Tallman was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
