Knoebels Amusement Resort is retiring one ride while introducing a new one this year.

Park officials told Sunbury’s Daily Item the park’s new “Tornado” ride should be ready by opening day, April 25.

The ride will allow riders to spin the cars at the speed they prefer, park President Dick Knoebel told the Sunbury newspaper.

“Controlling part of a ride provides a really unique and exciting experience,” said Knoebel, according to the Daily Item.

Knoebels Amusement Resort plans to place the new ride near the StratosFEAR drop tower ride.

Officials also announced the closure of 1001 Nacht, which the park built in 1998.

Stacy Ososkie, a spokeswoman for the Elysburg amusement park, told the Daily Item that 1001 Nacht is near the end of its functionality.
