Motter Agency in Jersey Shore: 70 years of experience

No matter if it’s a company, business or an individual, the staff of The Motter Agency, 262 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, helps their clients find the right insurance.

Founded by Richard Motter in the mid-1930s, the independent agency has been providing quality insurance to clients for over 70 years.

Motter Agency has 10 employees, who are waiting to help customers with any questions or services.

“(We are) capable of having the local individual personal relationships with clients while also having the capabilities of National Brokerage,” said Timothy Boardman, operations manager of Motter Agency.

In 1976, the agency was acquired by Gearhart Herr & Company, Inc. of Lock Haven. Gearhart & Herr also owns Doty & Hench in State College.

The group partners put focus on their client needs, and provide a premier level of service to Central Pennsylvania.

Across-the-board, the branch offices have 22 committed employees.

“They’re the best. … It’s a group of extremely dedicated individuals, most have been with us for quite a long time,” said Boardman.

The independent insurance agencies provide their services to companies and individuals primarily in Central Pennsylvania, and are licensed to provide their insurance services in 24 different states.

They are also affiliated with a national retail organization called the Alera Group that provides resources to the company in their continual expansion.

“(This) really gives us the opportunity to provide more insurance companies with options to our clients. …This makes this agency one of the largest 50 in the country; In turn, providing us with more resources to help our clients,” said Boardman.
