Township approves contractor to repave

The Woodward Township supervisors accepted a bid from Hammaker East, of Fayette, to repave the roads throughout the borough Wednesday.

The bid was for $99,926, according to Supervisor Wayne Robinson.

Robinson explained the repaving project will be occurring at various locations in Woodward Township.

As a part of the regular road maintenance project, the roads will be coated with blacktop, Robinson said.

The company is expected to be done paving by the beginning of September. The goal is to have it done before winter arrives, Robinson said.

In other business, the supervisors approved a resolution that will allow the state Department of Transportation to file an application for a grant from the Federal Rail Safety Program.

Money from that grant will go to SEDA-Council of Governments to “alter the Railroad Crossings on Antlers Lane (and) Brown Lane.”

Robinson said the paperwork and approval has to go through first before a date could be set.

Residents were reminded of the two vacancies on the Stormwater Management Appeals Board and an opening on the Zoning Hearing Board.

Board Chairman Alan Worth was absent.
