Locals protest possible Kavanaugh appointment

Over a dozen people came out to protest the possible appointment of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court in front of the Federal Courthouse on West Third Street Wednesday evening. The rally was one of many held nationwide in the past week where men and women alike shared words of support and their own stories of sexual assault. “I identify with her, and I believe her,” said Dan Maneval, referring to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in the 1980s.

A woman who wished to withhold her name told her story of being assaulted in her friend’s home at age 13. “If the guy who did that to me was up for Supreme Court, I don’t know that I’d have the guts to come forward,” she said through tears.
