Everett sets meeting on PGE proposal in Loyalsock valley

A state lawmaker is hosting a meeting on a proposed Pennsylvania General Energy water withdrawal and pipeline project planned for the Loyalsock Creek valley.

State Rep. Garth Everett, R-Muncy Township, said the meeting will bring in PGE staff and other agencies involved in protection of water, environment and natural resources. It will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Plunkett’s Creek Township Volunteer Fire Co.

“I think it is important that any project which impacts an area like the Loyalsock Creek be open and transparent to the public,” Everett said.

The meeting is meant to dispel rumors and provide information about the safeguards and regulatory requirements involved, he said.

The project is planned near what was Best Beach along Route 87, he said.

Questions will be taken following the presentations, he said.

Everett said he and his family have been on the creek since 1930. Everett said he is a member of the Loyalsock Creek Watershed Association and Men’s Club.

Everett said he spoke with state Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, regarding the meeting.
