County housing to receive grant

The Lycoming County Housing Authority will once again will receive funding for case management services for public housing and Section 8 residents working toward self sufficiency.

The $40,711 federal Housing and Urban Development grant will cover 34 participants, Executive Director MeriLyn Severson told the authority board at its monthly meeting Thursday.

“This is the same amount we received last year,” she said.

Severson said this marks about the seventh year the county has received the funding.

In other matters, the board voted to open the project-based voucher waiting list.

Eight vouchers will be available to applicants for the Muncy Greene Senior Living Apartments being constructed along John Brady Drive near Muncy.

The board voted to close the waiting list May 6.

Also at the meeting, the board voted to purchase a van for $25,340 through the Pennsylvania State COSTARS.

COSTARS is the state’s cooperative purchasing program administered by the Department of General Services Bureau of Procurement.
