5 Republicans grab nominations for township supervisor seats

Five candidates captured nominations for township supervisor seats in outlying Lycoming County municipalities in Tuesday’s primary.

Active races for six-year supervisor seats were in Limestone, Moreland, Muncy Creek, Penn and Washington townships.

Dennis E. Hainey grabbed 285 votes to 92 cast for Dean S. Lehman to secure the Republican nomination for the Limestone Township Supervisor slot.

In Moreland Township, Jay A. Snyder captured the Republican nomination over Mick A. Wertz. Vote totals were Snyder, 147, and Wertz, 100.

Daniel Whitmoyer received 353 votes to 176 for Gary Phillips to grab the Republican nomination in Muncy Creek Township.

In Penn Township, Richard Umpstead secured the Republican nomination over Charles Zook. Umpstead received 112 votes and Zook, 49.

No Democrats were on the ballots in those townships.

Devin O’Rourke was the Republican nominee in Washington Township. He received 165 votes to 100 for Bonnie R. Taylor.

Kenneth J. Bashita ran unopposed on the Democratic ballot.
