Tioga County votes comms, DA candidates

Republican Tioga County voters nominated two of their currently seated county commissioners, Tuesday, for reelection.

Mark L. Hamilton, won nomination with 36.03 percent of the vote, or 3616 total votes, followed by Erick J. Coolidge, with 32.69 percent, or 3281 votes, according to unofficial election numbers.

Each party only nominates two candidates to run for three county commissioner seats in November. As such, Roger Bunn, who ran for Republican nomination and lost, must run as a write-in candidate, to retain his position as commissioner.

Four years ago, Bunn won his seat as a write-in. This year, he said he is undecided if he will run in the same capacity.

On the Democratic side, Carolyn J. Ruth and Ann Marie T Nasek won the two nominations, uncontested.

For District Attorney, Krista L. Deats won the Republican nomination, uncontested. She will run against a Democratic write-in candidate in November.

Starting at $2.99/week.
