Coastal Chemical to hold public session with Montgomery residents
Montgomery residents will have an opportunity to meet with Coastal Chemical officials at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Montgomery Area High School auditorium.
Coastal Chemicals, based in Louisiana, plans to build a facility at 107 Miller Ave. to house 10 tanks, each holding 12,000 gallons of chemicals. Four would be outside, while another six would be inside, according to Bernie Beegle, a project geologist with Advanced Geo Services. Coastal Chemicals is using Advanced Geo Services for their contracting services to secure the appropriate permits.
Borough council members previously met with state Department of Environmental Protection and Coastal Chemical in a closed meeting. Several borough officials at the time asked the public not to immediately dismiss the idea of chemical storage in Montgomery.
At the time, Fae Herb, council member, asked people to keep an open mind and bring their questions to the open meeting when it is held.
