Housing board OKs contract for construction work

The Lycoming County Housing Authority Board approved a $26,931 contract with Yoder’s Builders Inc. for construction work at the Robert Montgomery Townhomes site during its regular monthly meeting Thursday.

The project involves installation of motion sensor sliding doors to ensure the entrance of the building in Montgomery meets Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.

“Our housing was built a long time ago and we have a commitment to bring things up to date,” Housing Authority Executive Director MeriLyn Severson said.

Yoder submitted the low bid for the work.

In other matters, Baker Tilly presented the authority’s 2018 audit.

The firm’s officials indicated there were no issues or findings of significance in the report which included financial statements and compliance auditing.

Baker Tilly is under a five-year contract to do the authority’s annual audits.

Severson reported that the authority’s charge-offs for the year amount to $10,911.

That amounts to 46 percent of the budgeted amount, she noted.

For the month of August, charge-offs come to $462.

Charge-offs are unpaid rents from tenants and other bills considered uncollectable.
