Airport board approves study of airport use

The Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority accepted a proposal from Volaire Aviation Consulting for a leakage study.

The $12,600 study will be used to learn various statistics including air

passenger destinations and departures and what airports are being used by

travelers.

Airport leakage refers to travelers avoiding the use of local airports to take advantage of lower fares or more convenient airline services elsewhere.

In other matters, Rebecca A. Burke was recognized for her seven years of time with the authority.

Her time on the board, which ended this month, included serving as chair of the marketing committee.

An official proclamation was given honoring her service.

The authority approved a payment of $130,958 from Lundy Construction for the the Common Hangar Door Project.

Thomas Hart, longtime airport executive director, finished his final week on the job.

Authority members thanked Hart for his many years with the airport.

Atwood Welker noted that Hart was the driving force behind the building of the new airport terminal.

Hart said between 1,000 and 1,200 people showed up for the open house for the terminal on Sunday.

The next authority meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the airport.
