ID of man killed in collision released
The name of the man who was killed Saturday after he was hit by a vehicle was released by the Lycoming County Coroner Sunday.
John Yarozs, 66, of Williamsport, was operating a motorized wheelchair around 1 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by a black Nissan SUV in the intersection of West Fourth and Williams streets.
An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death, said Charles E. Kiessling Jr., coroner.
The vehicle continued for a half-block along West Fourth Street until pulling off into the Community Arts Center’s drop-off lane. Emergency personnel attempted care, however, prior to their departure declared Yarozs deceased, police said.
The driver, who did not flee the scene, was released. His vehicle was towed.
State and city police worked to reconstruct the accident at the scene until about 4 p.m. Saturday.
City police in conjunction with the Lycoming County District Attorney’s office are continuing the investigation into whether charges will be filed against the driver, said Officer Joshua Bell.
