More area retailers closing their doors
The KMart in Loyalsock Township likely will be closing soon.
USA Today reported Thursday that the store on the Golden Strip is one of 45 locations shutting down. Other locations in the region to close include the KMart stores in Berwick and Wilkes-Barre.
Going-out-of-business sales will likely begin Dec. 2, after Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales, according to USA Today.
Transform Holdco LLC, which is owned by ESL Investments, a hedge fund owned by former Sears owner Eddie Lampert, took over Sears and KMart earlier in the year after the retailers exited bankruptcy proceedings.
According to Twice.com, a website that monitors electronics retail markets, the attempted relaunch of the brands focused on smaller stores that would be fixtures in their neighborhoods and communities.
Also closing is the Kitchen Collection at Lycoming Mall. The retailer of kitchen utensils and appliances plans to close all 160 of its stores by the end of the year. The retailer’s store in Monroe County also will be closing
