County Water and Sewer Authority approves lateral project

The Lycoming County Water and Sewer Authority gave the go-ahead for a sewer lateral project in Montoursville during its regular monthly meeting Wednesday.

McTish-Kunkel & Associates, of Montoursville, will perform the work along Church Alley and Loyalsock Avenue at a cost of $33,172.

It will involve the repair of eight sewer laterals with construction possibly to begin by spring.

In other matters, the board approved Muni-Link Billing to convert customer billing to a cloud-based software system.

Authority Executive Director Christine Weigle explained that the conversion amounts to $14,000 with an ongoing monthly cost of $2,850.

Muni-Link was also approved for website hosting and other services at $400 monthly.

Weigle reported that the Authority had a good year financially.

Overall, the operations of the authority’s different water and sewage systems showed a net income of $13,914.

“We met our goals,” Weigle said. “It’s always a challenge.”

Weigle also reported that the authority was able to reduce its debt service by $1.47 million.

Project costs for the year amounted to $720,721.
