Mild today, rain, possibly snow later in the week
Mild, spring-like weather from the weekend will continue before giving way to more seasonable chilly days this week.
Today is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 53 degrees and a slight breeze, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain could arrive overnight and continue into Tuesday.
The possibility of rain Tuesday is 80 percent.
“We have a weakening low pressure area moving up the Ohio Valley. It will make for some light spotty rain from Monday night into Tuesday,” National Weather Service forecaster Mike Dangelo said. “That system intensifies into Wednesday pushing a cold front through.”
Temperatures, he noted, will drop with the possibility of some lake effect snow.
No large accumulations of snow can be expected, however.
Snow showers could hit the Williamsport area Thursday morning. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy that day with a high of just 36.
Friday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 32 and an overnight low of 21.
The weekend will be cold with partly to sunny skies Saturday and Sunday and the thermometer struggling to reach the freezing mark — about 10 degrees below normal for an average high temperature.
