Mayor proposes extending outside ban on 50 or more to at least May 1

No gathering of a group of individuals in excess of 50 people can take place on city streets, public parks or other public places in the city until at least May 1, according to Mayor Derek Slaughter.

In an effort to control the spread of COVID-19, Slaughter said Tuesday that he was following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It will be determined by City Council at its next meeting whether or not to extend the restrictions on city property, which expires on April 2, Slaughter said.

The ban outside does not apply to school, he said.
