Superintendent’s contract renewed for 5 years

Christina Bason, superintendent of Montoursville Area School District, received a five-year contract extension Tuesday, for $146,667 a year with a two percent minimum raise every year.

She will receive medical, dental, vision, unemployment and life insurance, according to her contract, as well as income protection and workers compensation.

Professional development credits must be earned each year and Bason will receive up to $2,500 in travel reimbursement.

Bason’s retirement benefit is commensurate with her years of service, with the district providing up to $10,000 annually to her retirement.

David Shimmel, board president, thanked Bason for her past and continued efforts during the virtual meeting Tuesday.

“We, the board, again welcome you,” he said. “We look forward to five productive years and five years that will bring some changes that we’re going to get stronger over and move ahead.”
