Sunny skies then showers throughout the week before sun returns for weekend

A mixture of sun and rain is in the forecast for this week with high temperatures expected to be in the lower 80s, according to Rob Radzanowski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College.

“There will certainly be a fair amount of sunshine” for today and Wednesday, he said.

“What we’re seeing really is a more typical summertime pattern building up for the first part of the week,” Radzanowski said.

“There definitely will be a muggy feeling in the air as we experience some above-normal temperatures,” he said, adding that the humidity “shouldn’t be a problem, but it will be noticeable.”

A high pressure system approaching from the south and southeast will arrive here Thursday “bringing us a lot of moisture,” Radzanowski explained, adding that there is 70 percent chance of showers both Thursday and Friday.

“With the rain showers, our high temperatures will drop back to the the upper 70s,” he said.

Overnight lows throughout the week will start in the low 60s tonight and increase to the mid-60s Thursday night into Friday. Thursday will likely “be the muggiest night. It will then drop back to the 50s for the weekend,” Radzanowski said.

“The weekend doesn’t look too bad at all. It looks very pleasant actually. It will be mostly sunny both Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures in the low to mid-70s both days,” he said.
