Centre County Grange Fair canceled

The Centre County Grange Fair Committee announced the cancellation of the 2020 Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a statement on the fair’s website.

“The health and safety of our tenting and RV families, fairgoers, staff, concessionaires, sponsors, entertainers and others is of utmost importance,” the statement read. “It is clear to us, the Grange Fair Committee, that we would be unable to adhere to the CDC mandates of social distancing protocols at this time. Thank you for your understanding and patience during these unprecedented times. We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2021 Grange Fair.”

The statement noted that anyone who has already paid tent or RV rent will have the payment held in escrow and applied to the 2021 fair.

Concession payments that were already made also will be applied to the 2021 fair. Any concerns or questions related to concessions can be referred to concessions secretary Barb Gates at 814-364-1522. Current sponsorships will be applied to the 2021 fair.

Postal Service hiring essential employees

The U.S. Postal Service is posting many jobs on www.usps.com/careers. To assist potential employee candidates in the application process, several postal job fairs will be conducted throughout central Pennyslvania, according to a news release.

U.S. Postal Service employees will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 3, at the Post Office at 2901 Reach Road — adhering to social distancing and mask protocols — with information on completing applications and description of the jobs available.

The Postal Service, on an ongoing basis, has vacancies for city and rural carrier associates, tractor-trailer operators, mail handlers, maintenance and clerks. Jobs are listed at www.usps.com/careers. Check the site frequently for new postings.

Applicants for all positions must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident alien, a citizen of American Samoa or any other territory owing allegiance to the United States.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
