The heart of Newberry

Doing their part to keep Newberry’s World War I monument area free of weeds and deserving of how it should look for the July 4 holiday are, from left to right, Janaya Bartholomew, Danielle Smedley and Shawna Bartholomew. The flowering plants around the statute of Lady Liberty and put there in memory of soldiers, sailors and nurses who served in that war, lies in the heart of Newberry and was suffering from neglect. “We’re happy to hear compliments of people driving by,” Shawna Bartholomew said.
