Small businesses receive relief funding
The Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce has announced that 92 small businesses will receive loans and/or grants in the second round of funding allocations in the small business relief program
Chamber President Jason Fink told Lycoming County commissioners Tuesday that the funding total of $200,000 will help businesses get back on their feet after sustaining financial setbacks from COVID-19.
“We hope this will help them get through some tough times here,” he said.
The program’s first round of funding earlier this year provided loans and grants to 89 businesses.
Commissioner Tony Mussare noted that many businesses continue to struggle throughout the U.S.
Of the funding amount, the county provided $150,000, according to Fink.
“We are fortunate that we are able to help these businesses,” Commissioner Scott Metzger said.
Commissioner Rick Mirabito said small businesses are the backbone of the local economy, providing many jobs for people.
Fink noted that all applications submitted by businesses for loans or grants were reviewed by chamber and county officials.
Small businesses with annual revenue not exceeding $3 million were eligible to apply.
Money is being made available in a combination of grants and loans, with grants not exceeding $2,000 and total assistance to a business not exceeding $4,000.
