Ex-city officer’s alleged infraction undisclosed
City Hall officials won’t disclose the reason a former police corporal was suspended in June, paid while on suspension and has since resigned.
Cpl. Eric Derr, who had been an officer since joining the department in 2013, was subject of a police internal investigation.
Derr was suspended for an alleged infraction. Chief of Police Damon Hagan has declined to comment on the matter. Derr resigned in late September.
His pension calculation was just shy of $27,000, which he was authorized to receive in a vote by the police pension board.
When asked about Derr receiving pay while on suspension, council President Randall J. Allison said, “There is paid and unpaid leave. “The police administration makes the call on it.”
