Planners review cell tower plan

The Lycoming County Planning Commission recommended for approval a land development plan calling for the erection of a cell tower in Mifflin Township during its regular monthly meeting Thursday night.

Josh Billings, subdivision and land development administrator, reported that plans call for the 280-foot high AT&T tower to be located in a fenced in area on a hill south of Salladasburg.

The tower will include lighting for aircraft to detect.

Access to the 100-by-100-foot parcel will be made from an existing driveway.

A small utility building will also be located on the site adjacent to the Steve Flook property.

Billings noted stormwater management plans have been included with the land development proposal.

During the meeting, Eve Adrian was introduced as the planning commission’s newly hired natural resource planner.

Shannon Rossman, executive director of county planning and community development, said Adrian’s work will include working with plans for open space and the Chesapeake Bay cleanup.

Adrian, a former Hughesville resident, has relocated to the area from Oregon.
