Lycoming County voters back GOP
Lycoming County voters threw their support behind the winning candidates for state and federal lawmaker seats.
Overall, unofficial election results as of Wednesday showed each candidate easily outdistancing their opponents.
U.S. Rep. Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, running for re-election for the first time, defeated Democrat Lee Griffin. Vote totals were Keller, 230,328, and Griffin, 90,403.
In Lycoming County, it was Keller, 42,089, and Griffin, 15,191.
For the 23rd state Senate seat between incumbent Republican Gene Yaw and Democrat Jackie Baker, it was Yaw, 83,236 votes, and Baker, 29,073 votes.
Yaw captured all five counties of the district including Lycoming where he grabbed 74 percent of the vote.
Republican Jeff Wheeland defeated Democrat Airneezer Page for the 83rd state House seat, capturing 67 percent of the vote in Lycoming County. Vote totals were Wheeland, 18,708, and Page, 9,037.
Republican Joe Hamm grabbed the 84th state House seat with 78.9 percent of the vote total.
In Lycoming County, it was Hamm, 23,350 votes, and Democrat Amanda Waldman, 6,195 votes.
In Union County, the vote totals were Hamm 2,117, and Waldman, 597.
President Donald Trump has received strong support in Lycoming County, capturing just over 70 percent of the vote.
Overall, Trump had received 40,707 votes to Biden’s 16,539.
Mail-in ballots are still being counted in the state.
