No tax increase for Old Lycoming 2021 budget

The Old Lycoming Township supervisors recently adopted a preliminary budget for next year that holds the line on taxes.

The real estate tax rate will remain at 4.713 mills. For properties in the township that are assessed at $100,000, the homeowner would pay $471.

The budget is available for review at the township office and is expected to be adopted on Dec. 8.

When the Sun-Gazette reviewed the budget at the township office, Matt Aikey, township manager, declined to answer questions about it, other than to say the township is “tightening the knot” and not spending any money that is not necessary.

Additionally, there is no increase in the sewer rate, keeping it at $60 per month. The last rate change was in 2018.

The supervisors also discussed a new River Valley Transit bus stop that will be located at the STEP Building.

Amy Hammaker, township secretary, said there will be two stops in the morning and in the afternoon hours that can also take riders to the Trade and Transit Center downtown.

The supervisors’ next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 8.
