Teenager allegedly shot after argument
State police reported that a shooting at a residence in Williamsport’s East End Monday night likely occurred following a verbal altercation between two groups.
A 14-year-old boy, police said, was struck by gunfire at about 6 p.m. on the front porch of the home in the 900 block of Penn Street.
Just prior to the shooting, several people had approached the porch where youths including the victim were gathered.
Following an argument, several rounds were fired by unknown suspects with one of them hitting the teen, according to police. The suspects then fled the scene.
The boy was treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 570-368-5700.
Meanwhile, a weekend shooting involving a delivery driver is still under investigation by city police.
The unidentified driver was not hit.
City police were not available for additional information Tuesday.
It marked the second such attack on a delivery driver in the city in the past month.
On Oct. 23, a delivery driver was hit in the shoulder by gunfire on First Avenue.
On Monday, Mayor Derek Slaughter issued a statement that his administration is working to solve the crimes and arrest those committing the dangerous assaults.
