2 locals charged in U.S. Capitol riot

A Williamsport woman and South Williamsport man allegedly took part in the insurrection and riot by entering the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

Tammy A. Bronsburg, 49, whose last known address was 420 Rural Ave., and Mark Roderick Aungst, 45, of 521 Fairmont Ave., South Williamsport, were charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct, specifically by entering a restricted building and grounds and violent entry along with discorderly conduct in the riot following an address by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump, the FBI said.

Each appeared before U.S. Middle District Magistrate Judge William I. Arbuckle III after getting brought in by U.S. Marshals Service.

Following their initial arraignment they were released on bail.

They are scheduled to appear by Zoom technology Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui, of the District of Columbia, where they are expected to be prosecuted.

The court report does not indicate whether any damage was done by either individual. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey MacArthur handled the arraignment.

Numerous individuals took a bus trip leaving Lycoming County to attend the Trump rally.

While free on bail, they may not go into the Capitol building or approach members of Congress.
