City stormwater transfer takes place in less than two weeks

The city transfer of its stormwater systems is expected to take place March 1, but there is not any discussion on proposed costs for ratepayers.

City Council’s public works committee Tuesday had a discussion on a pending stormwater agreement and transfer of the services that are under the ground to the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority.

Instead, Michael Miller, authority executive director, said a formal agreement is pending.

“The staff is working administratively to identify responsibilities,” Miller said.

As this occurs, the authority is working closely with Jon Sander, city engineer, and Adam Winder, acting general manager of public works and general manager of River Valley Transit.

The city will be responsible for all above the storm drains or catch basins, while the authority will manage and repair the underground systems, Miller said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
