Finance committee gives nod to $875,000 street paving bid
City Council finance committee gave a positive recommendation Tuesday to have a local contractor do the street repaving work this year for about $875,000.
A resolution for street construction services was recommended for approval for Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., a street paving company with offices in Montoursville and State College that has done the job in the past.
Hawbaker’s bid will go before council for review Thursday night.
Other business done by the committee included a positive recommendation for a consolidated capital grant application and certify local match for state capital financial assistance for River Valley Transit.
The resolution, which is done annually, helps the transit system with purchases toward surveillance, bus stops, buses, training and simulation devices, said Adam Winder, River Valley Transit general manager.
The funding is $2.8 million from the state Department of Transportation, $112,000 from the Federal Transit Administration and $17,413 in local match.
