Fire crews battle blaze in Rauchtown
RAUCHTOWN — Volunteer firefighters from Lycoming and Clinton counties were battling a house fire on Rauchtown Road (Route 880) that was reported about 11 a.m. Thursday morning.
It was initially reported that someone was possibly trapped in the burning home at 3297 Rauchtown Road, but Nippenose Valley Fire Chief Dean Miller, in charge at the scene, radioed to a dispatcher that everyone was out.
Miller reported a fire on the second floor of the home, just north of Pine Mountain Road in Clinton County’s Crawford Township.
In addition to firefighters from Nippenose Valley, crews from Antes Fort, Jersey Shore and units from Clinton County were dispatched to the scene.
The local chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting three adults and a child who were displaced by the fire, according to reports from the scene.
“The bulk of the fire has been knocked down,” a fire officer at the scene told a dispatcher at 11:30 a.m.
A PPL crew was at the scene to shut off power to the damaged home.
