Commissioners approve funding requests
Lycoming County commissioners approved funding requests from 11 agencies amounting to more than $1.5 million at their weekly meeting.
The county library system’s allocation amounts to $1.28 million, the biggest amount of all agencies receiving funding.
The grant and monitoring agreement requests are approved annually.
Williamsport Regional Airport will receive $78,360 along with matching funding.
Other agencies receiving dollars are as follows:
• Law Enforcement & Police Training Association, $25,000.
• American Rescue Workers, $20,000.
• Lycoming Early Learning Team (Ready Rosie), $16,684.
• Firetree Place, $40,000.
• Lycoming County Historical Society, $20,000.
• Community Arts Center, $25,000.
• Lycoming Police Camp Cadet Foundation, $3,000.
• Lycoming County Senior Citizens Inc., $10,000.
• Lycoming County Industrial Development Authority, $3,000.
Commissioner Tony Mussare noted that the various agencies provide vital services for the county and add to its quality of life.
“We know the airport has struggled,” Commissioner Rick Mirabito said. “It’s important to economic development.”
He noted also the importance of having an integrated library system.
Commissioners approved a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Project application for $3.89 million for the levee system.
The funding would specifically target the rehabilitation of relief wells.
Commissioners approved a contract with Air Management Technologies for $2.99 million for replacement of the air conditioning and heating system at the county’s Third Street Plaza building.
Commissioners approved an amendment to an agreement with GEO Reetry Services LLC to increase the number of people in the program per day from 100 to 125. Reentry programs are designed to assist incarcerated individuals with a successful transition to their community after they are released.
It was reported to commissioners that McTish Kunkel & Associates submitted a bid of $76,734 for inspection work for the bridge bundling project. The bid is the lowest from among five firms seeking the work.
Commissioners agreed to extend an agreement by one month with TurnKey Construction, Inc. for completing work on the district judge’s new building in Old Lycoming Township. The work is now expected to be done by July 1.
Commissioners approved requests from the Lycoming-Clinton Joinder for the following agreements for residential and/for foster care services:
• Taylor Diversion Programs Inc.
• KidsPeace National Centers Inc.
• Families United Network Inc.
Commissioners approved the hirings of the following people to fill vacant positions: Alisa M. Laylon, resident supervisor, Pre-Release Center, $16.76 per hour; Lindsay Sauers and Kurt Weiland, clerks, $14.09 per hour; and Spencer J. Ross, correctional officer, prison, $17.46 per hour.
Commissioners also approved:
• Steinbacher Enterprises Inc. for flood mitigation work at $81,044.
• Baker Tilly to perform the 2020 county audit for $69,650.
• Purchase of compactor replacement wheels for landfill equipment at $127,495.
• Purchase of food products from Feesers, Inc.; Keyco Distributors Inc.; and Sysco Central Pennylvania.
